MARYLAND ARTS DAY

The Frederick Arts Council communicates the value of arts and culture to our elected officials and other stakeholders. One of the major advocacy events FAC participates in each year is Maryland Arts Day, hosted at the Maryland State legislative offices in Annapolis by Maryland Citizens for the Arts.

We charter a bus, free to community members, to bring constituents to this advocacy event, where we are able to personally meet with our Senators and Delegates. We communicate the immense positive economic impact that the arts have on our community, and put faces to this legislative issue.

Our efforts combined with those of other arts councils across the state have lately been effective: for FY2019, Maryland approved record funding for the arts, and currently has the third-highest per capita arts funding in the country.

If you’re interested in joining us next time, check back in February when we post the links to our bus sign-up and the Maryland Arts Day registration.
