The FAC Artist Studios & Gallery at 1-11 North Market Street provides a fully integrated space for artists to create, show their work, and build community.
Located in an early 20th-century bank, it also builds on the richness of Frederick’s history in the very heart of downtown. Offering the best of elegant historic detail and modern conveniences — such as an elevator, new HVAC system, and LED lighting in the Studios — it demonstrates Frederick’s and FAC’s commitment to providing the best for local arts.
The Studios are outfitted to house nearly 30 artists in creative spaces, and also offers additional amenities such as a kitchenette and classroom. The Gallery space displays the work of the Studio artists on a rotating basis, and also will be home to rotating contemporary exhibits, always offering plenty to see and a diverse array of creativity to the Frederick community and our visitors alike.
The Al and Helen Hurwitz Gallery of the Arts is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11am-4pm, with extended hours on First Saturdays and during the monthly Sunday ArtWalk. Currently on display is Dwellings, a juried group show of art related to the theme of “home” by local and regional artists.
In addition to artist exhibitions, the Al and Helen Hurwitz Gallery of the Arts is also a great place for weddings, galas, creative meetings, private events, and music video or film location shoots. For more information about renting the Al and Helen Hurwitz Gallery of the Arts, please contact Emma Sandler, Public Art and Studios Manager, emma@frederickartscouncil.org.
