Frederick, MD – The Frederick Arts Council and the Flying Cows held a public art contest to choose a jersey design for an upcoming basketball game. Shreya Kumar has placed first in the design competition, whose jersey design will be worn during the May 30th game.
Submissions were accepted throughout the fall from all ages. Jersey design submissions were installed along the upper halls of the YMCA Ausherman Art Center at 115 E Church St and via an online platform.
A reception was held to announce the top winners and celebrate the many creative submissions from throughout the community. Other top placing designs include Kate Marshall (second place), and Daniel Keller (third place).
“We had an array of different jersey design submissions. The creativity that went into this project was incredible and we are very excited to see Shreya’s design come to life at the game on May 30th,” said Louise Kennelly, Executive Director of the Frederick Arts Council.
“This is exactly what Flying Cows basketball is all about—bringing the Frederick community into everything we do,” said Chris Jenkins, General Manager of the Flying Cows. “The creativity we saw from these submissions was incredible, and Shreya’s design truly stood out. We’re excited to showcase her work on the court and celebrate the talent that makes this community so special.”
