Frederick, MD – Frederick County Government and the Frederick Arts Council are holding a presentation and discussion for potential public art on the Ballenger Creek Linear Trail on Thursday, January 29th from 5:30p – 6:30p at the C. Burr Artz Library Community Room.
Discussion points include an overview of the FAC’s Public Art Master Plan and vision for public art across the county, a summary of the art selection and evaluation process, and an exploration of inspiring examples of public art from across the world along nature trails, as well as review of feedback from a recent survey about attitudes regarding public art on the trail.
The Frederick Arts Council’s vision is a Frederick where public art connects residents and visitors, expresses an authentic and unique sense of place, drives economic prosperity through creativity, and advances a culturally inclusive and empowered future.
The Frederick Arts Council strives to adhere to nationally recognized best practices when it comes to developing new projects, and nurture sustainable funding streams to ensure that Frederick’s public art can be enjoyed by generations to come.
We recognize that cities and locations often become deeply identified with their works of public art, and we are excited by the potential of public artworks to spark conversations, establish community identity, and serve the community as a whole.
