Local Artwork Sought for State Capitol

December 5, 2010

Local artists once again have an opportunity to have their work displayed at the State Capitol. The Frederick Arts Council is working in partnership with the Frederick County Delegation to show local artwork in Annapolis during the legislative session. 2011 will mark the fifth straight year of the partnership between the Frederick Arts Council and local members of the State Senate and House of Delegates.

Artwork that depicts Frederick County in some way is preferred, but not required. Participating artists must live or work in Frederick County to be considered. Priority will also be given to artists who are affiliate members of the Frederick Arts Council.

The artwork is expected to be on display beginning in January and run throughout the 90 day legislative session in March. The artists selected are encouraged to attend and participate in the 2011 Maryland Arts Day, planned in early February. It is expected that these artists will be featured at a ceremony with the delegation during that day.

The delegates and senators enjoy seeing the great work that is produced right here in our area. Artists interested in exhibiting their work should submit an electronic image of their proposed artwork for this show by December 17, 2010. Only one image will be accepted from each individual. For a full call for artists, including a registration form, individuals should contact the Frederick Arts Council at 301-662-4190.
