The Frederick Arts Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Louise Kennelly as its new executive director..louise

“We are very pleased to announce this appointment.  Louise brings significant arts management experience and an enthusiasm for engaging local artists, supporters, and all of our many stakeholders across Frederick County in new and creative ways,” said Noel Manalo, President of the Frederick Arts Council.

Ms. Kennelly joins FAC after nearly five years as Executive Director of the DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative, a membership organization dedicated to providing access to world class arts for all public school students which functioned as the formal arts education partner of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Prior to that position, she was a Director at the federally funded National High School Center at the American Institutes for Research.

“We are excited to have Louise joining us. After a thorough search that resulted in a number of terrific candidates, the board selected Louise, who has a collaborative leadership style and strong vision for our future,” said Robin Sagoskin, FAC Board Vice President and Chair of the Executive Director Search and Selection Committee.

“It’s a very exciting time in Frederick County. There is tremendous grass-roots creativity here and strong potential to put Frederick on the map as an arts-centric, arts-destination county.  I look forward to advancing Frederick’s artists and arts organizations and to bridge and strengthen our community through the arts,” said Louise Kennelly.

Ms. Kennelly is a published poet and painter and a recipient of a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award, a North Carolina State Arts Council Grant, and is qualified as a Maryland Artist in the Schools through the Maryland State Arts Council Arts in Education Artist-in-Residency program. She was an adjunct faculty member of Hood College and is a graduate of Yale University, the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, and has an MFA from the University of North Carolina.

Frederick Arts Council Announces Sale of Building

The Frederick Arts Council Board of Directors has voted to sell its downtown Frederick offices, Event Hall, Gallery and Black Box Theater. The Arts Council complex, located at 15 West Patrick Street in the arts and entertainment district of downtown has been the Council’s home for fourteen years.  The Council, which serves as the umbrella arts organization for Frederick County, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to help build a better community through arts programs, services activities and special events.
