Arts in Education

A major component of the Frederick Arts Council is our Arts in Education (AiE) program, through which we give matching grants to schools and other educational entities to bring arts into the classroom and to our constituents. The arts should be a part of every person’s life, as they bring cultural understanding and appreciation, self-expression and individual creativity, and joy and happiness to youth and adults alike. The Frederick Arts Council believes strongly that all residents of Frederick County, beginning with our youngest children, deserve to experience the arts and to have the arts as an integral component of their lives.

The Frederick Arts Council’s AiE funds help teachers and program specialists enhance their arts curricula and offerings by drawing upon the talents of artists and arts organizations in our community. Please check our Artist Directory for names and contact information or contact the Frederick Arts Council for recommendations and consultation.

Arts in Education grants are available to schools and other educational institutions in Frederick County to bring artists into their programs. Schools may submit up to two grants each academic year. The maximum amount of each grant is typically $500 and must be matched 1:1. Grants are accepted on a revolving basis until the annual budget is exhausted. It is strongly encouraged that grant applications be submitted at least 30 days prior to the planned arts activity.
