Friday, August 17: Art in the Park

July 5, 2012

Sports and the arts will come together once again for one night in August. The sixth annual Art in the Park event will be held on Friday, August 17th at Harry Grove Stadium. In addition to being able to enjoy a Frederick Keys baseball game, attendees will also be able to experience many art-related activities.

That night, the baseball players will also be wearing one-of-a-kind jerseys designed by a local artist. After the game, the players will autograph the shirts and they will be auctioned off to the highest bidder with the proceeds benefiting the Frederick Arts Council.

Also incorporated into the event for the third straight year is the annual Stitch “N Pitch activities that night, encouraging local knitters, embroiders, and others to engage in stitching activities while enjoying the game. Stitch N’ Pitch is an initiative of The National NeedleArts Association (TNNA), who has partnered with Major League and Minor League Baseball which encourages thousands of “Stitch N’ Pitch fans” every year to bring their yarn, knitting needles, patterns, needlepoint and needlearts projects to work on during the game.

Art in the Park is an annual event organized by the Frederick Arts Council in partnership with the Frederick Keys. A limited number of discounted tickets to the game are available at the Cultural Arts Center for just $5.00 per person. For more information, call 301-662-4190.
