Arts Council Memberships Available
The arts council recently unveiled the revamped Frederick Arts Council Membership Program. All members receive a FAC Membership Card which entitles the cardholder to certain discounts and benefits. Members will also be listed on the FAC website, receive an arts bumper sticker, monthly electronic newsletters, and other member privileges. Members receive a free voucher to a Maryland Ensemble Theatre show and a buy one get one free offer to Cinemarts. Discounts are also offered to Fredericktowne Players productions, Museum Shop purchases, Shining Stars School for Performing Arts, and certain events at the Weinberg Center for the Arts. Other benefits are applicable depending on membership category, including participation in the annual member show, discounted rental rates at the Cultural Arts Center, and public recognition.
On a quarterly basis, the Frederick Arts Council hosts a Member Soiree which is open to members only. The Member Soirees provide a chance for networking and socializing but also provides an opportunity to learn of upcoming activities and initiatives. In addition, a short topical program is held at each gathering. On June 10th, Shuan Butcher, executive director of the Frederick Arts Council, and Kara Norman, executive director of Downtown Frederick Partnership, gives a brief presentation on the benefits and incentives of Downtown Frederick’s Arts and Entertainment District, which the two organizations co-manage.
The membership program provides an opportunity for individuals and entities to support the thriving arts community that exists in Frederick County. The Frederick Arts Council is the umbrella nonprofit arts organization in Frederick County that promotes, supports, and advocates the arts. The organization provides grants to approximately twenty other arts organizations, supports arts in education activities in local schools, operates the Frederick Festival of the Arts, manages an arts incubator and community art space, and other activities.
Membership categories are as follows:
$25 for Individuals (Artists and Arts Supporters)
$50 Family (of artists and arts supporters)
$75 Nonprofit Arts Organizations
$100 For-Profit Arts Organizations
$125 Other Organizations
$150 Small Business
