A major program of the Frederick Arts Council is our Arts in Education (AiE) program. With AiE, we give matching grants to schools through their PTA’s to bring arts into the classroom. Because our schools are having to give overwhelming emphasis to the basics, the arts are often the first programs to be cut. However, research shows, and parents know, that the arts strengthen academic performance. Students who study the arts perform 30% better than those who don’t. According to the Business Committee for the Arts, students who study the arts score 53 points higher on Verbal and 37 points higher on Math segments of their SAT's.

Frederick Arts Council's Arts-in-Education funds help teachers enhance their arts curricula by drawing upon the talents of artists and arts organizations in our community. Please check our Artist Directory for names and contact information.

Arts in Education grants are available to schools in Frederick County to bring artists into the schools. Schools can submit up to two grants each school year. The maximum amount of each grant is $300 and must be matched 1:1. Grants are accepted on a revolving basis until the annual amount is exhausted. However, it is strongly encouraged that grant applications be submitted at least 30 days prior to the planned arts activity.
